NOAH
In the project NOAH (Network Oriented Application Harmonisation), funded by the European Commission under grant number EP 26 95, large system suppliers worked together with software houses and academia to harmonise application functions which are on top of the European fieldbus standard EN 50170.
The NOAH project has provided key technologies to enable open, distributed industrial automation systems (ODIS). The NOAH proposal is to use technology based standardised function blocks for the design and construction of ODIS. This approach is in line with standards like N 50170, ISO 10303 (STEP) and IEC 61499, IEC 61804. The project aims to introduce IT in the automation industry.
